Levitt & Slafkes, P.C. is a law firm that represents individuals and small businesses seeking bankruptcy relief, defense against foreclosure action, loan modifications, and commercial litigation. We love our work and are passionate about helping people move toward their better futures. That is why we take great pride when our work is recognized. In the Summer 2018 Issue of Morris/Essex Health & Life Magazine, Bruce Levitt was recognized amongst Essex County’s Top Bankruptcy Lawyers for 2018. We are proud of this honor, as we are of our work.

Helping Obtain Bankruptcy Relief Since 1995

Our firm was founded in 1995 by the husband and wife team of Bruce H. Levitt and Shelley B. Slafkes. Together, we have created a firm that is dedicated to serving each client with a custom tailored plan that not only considers the law, but also pays attention to the needs of the individual client, their family, or their business. In other words, we treat every client with dignity and respect because we understand that they are real people who are asking for help in their time of need. In addition, we understand how important it is to restore a sense of hope for our clients, and the strength that can come with that renewed optimism.

Experience You Can Rely On

Both Bruce H. Levitt and Shelly B. Slafkes have over thirty years of legal experience, have been published in the New Jersey Law Journal, and are highly respected litigators. In addition to their client-focused practice, they understand the importance of helping their community and are therefore highly engaged with numerous non-profit organizations.

Bruce has spent years serving on the Boards of the South Mountain YMCA and the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Essex County. In addition to being a bankruptcy attorney, Shelley is asocial worker who has served in an elected capacity on the South Orange Maplewood Board of Education. She has also served on the Boards of Family Promise of Morris County, Family Connections, South Orange Maplewood Community Coalition on Race and the Columbia High School Scholarship Fund.
