Many Americans are currently struggling to get by or are just barely hanging on. If you have fallen behind on paying your credit cards, medical debt, rent or other bills it is important to know you are not alone.

Many famous people have filed for bankruptcy in order to have a fresh start. Just recently, Ahmed Zayat, the owner of 2015 Triple Crown winning horse American Pharaoh filed for personal bankruptcy protection under Chapter 7.

The case is Ahmed Zayat, 20-20387 and was filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey. Mr. Zayat estimated his total number of creditors to be between 100 and 199 creditors. The case lists around $1.9 million of assets and $19.4 million of liabilities.

American Pharoah won the Triple Crown in 2015. He was the 12th Triple Crown winner in history and the first since Affirmed won in 1978.

Celebrity bankruptcies can inspire us to grasp the opportunity that bankruptcy can offer people overwhelmed by debt to get a fresh start by eliminating their debts. Chapter 7 is a quick and relatively inexpensive way to start fresh and eliminate most types of debts.
